Jevinic Centre, Issac John Street, GRA Ikeja, Lagos, on Saturday, the 14th of Jun, 2025 played host to a cross- section of Nigerians- academics, professionals,technocrats, Captains of Industry, business moguls, traditional, political and religious leaders- as the Akokwa Christian Elites, non- profit organisation, held its 2025 edition of the annual Eminent Persons’ Dinner.
An accomplished academic and thorough breed medical scientist, Professor Ademola Oremosu who is also Provost, College of Medicine, UniversityOf Lagos Teaching Hospital, LUTH, Idi Araba was the Guest Speaker.
Akokwa Christian Elites is made up of businessmen and women, professionals, intellectuals and other categories of peace loving and socially constructive men and women of Akokwa extraction who believe in the supremacy of God and who live a life guided by Him through the Christian faith.
A predominantly Christian, community, Akokwa is in Ideato North local government area of Imo state. As a body, the Akokwa Christian Elites believes that God is the source of all providence and is committed to efforts towards the provision of good living conditions for everyone, as right of all Akokwa indigenes.
Over the years, the group has succeeded in its avowed committement to fostering positive changes in the lives of Akokwa people through their activities. The group has consistently stated its commitment to ensuring that truth, honesty, love, integrity and fear of God prevail above all other things in Akokwa.
The Guest Speaker, Professor Oremosu, a devout Christian who specializes in human anatomy gave a good account of himself as he held the audience spell bound with his informative, educative and enriching lecture.
Born 60 years ago to the royal family of Sir Mabayoje Samuel Oremosu and Late Lady Abigail Olayibo Oremosu, he attended College of Medicine University of Lagos for his Bachelor of Medicine; Bachelor of Surgery degree before proceeding to obtain a masters and doctorate degrees from the same institution.
Apart from being an erudite academic, Professor Oremosu is also an accomplished medical practitioner. He was the Medical Director of Mabol clinic limited in Agege area of Lagos state before resting the practice after 26 years. He is a fellow of several academies and societies in the medical profession.
Mr Austin Eze read the address on behalf of the President of the Association. He stated that Akokwa Christian Elites’ committement to fostering love, peace and love in the society is in line with Christian virtues. According to him, the group will never be tired of contributing its quota to the spiritual and socio- economic growth and development of the Akokwa nation nay Nigeria.
The event which was moderated by Emeka Onyeje was well attended. Some of the attendees, with some of the attendees weighing in on topical national issues affecting the country.
Past editions of the Akokwa Christian Elites Dinner had attracted eminent personalities including Mazi Sam Ohuabunwa of Neimeth International Pharmaceutical Plc., and former Chairman Nigerian Economic Summit Group (NESG), Mr. Tony Ewelike, CEO, A. G Homes, Arc. Azike Diribe, a First class Architect of the Integrated Consortium, Mr. Marvel Akpoyibo, retired Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Administration, Professor Pat Utomi of the Lagos Business School, His Excellency Senator Anyim Pius Anyim (GCON), former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Bar. James Ocholi (SAN), the Pro-Chancellor of Salem University, Kogi State, Arc Ifeanyi Odedo, Managing Director, Sharon Ultimate and Sharon Regency Hotels, Abuja, Dr. Uche Ogah (OON), former Minister of state, Mines and Stell, current Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, Engr. Charles A Adewolu, FNSE, and technocrat and CEO of TECO group of companies among other notable personalities.
