Audu Kashim Israel, Founder/Executive Director of the Kaduna International Film Festival (KADIFF) and Vice Chairman of the Nigerian Film Festivals Association, has extended warm greetings to Muslims around the world on the occasion of Eid-al-Adha.
In a goodwill message signed by Ambrose Fadoyin, Senior Special Assistant, Media and Communications, KADIFF, Audu emphasized the significance of Eid-al-Adha also known as Eid al-Kabir as a sacred Islamic festival that commemorates the profound act of obedience by Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham), who was willing to sacrifice his son in submission to God’s command. While the Islamic tradition holds that it was Ismail (Ishmael) who was to be sacrificed, the Biblical version refers to Isaac. The story, shared across faiths, symbolizes devotion, sacrifice, and unwavering faith.
He said: “Eid al-Adha is not just a celebration but a reminder of the virtues of submission to the will of God, generosity, and compassion. The festival teaches us to give selflessly, especially to the less privileged. The practice of Qurbani (animal sacrifice) is a call to share with the poor, needy, orphans, widows, and those impacted by economic hardship—especially in Nigeria. No one should be left out of the joy of this season.”
Audu urged Muslims to use the period for self-reflection, to renew their commitment to charity, and to promote peace, unity, and kindness in their communities.
“Eid al-Adha is a time to reflect, to avoid negativity, and to foster love, tolerance, and inclusion. Let us be a beacon of hope and a light in our communities supporting our neighbors, friends, and families.”
As part of his message, Audu reminded the public about the upcoming 8th edition of the Kaduna International Film Festival, scheduled to take place from August 26th to 30th, 2025, in Kaduna State. He expressed excitement about welcoming filmmakers, creatives, and visitors from around the world to celebrate creativity and cultural exchange.
“We look forward to receiving you all in Kaduna this August. Until then, I wish all Muslim faithful a joyous and peaceful Eid-al-Adha celebration.”
