According to the Christian Holy Book, The Bible, there is a time to be born and a time to die; a time to mourn and a time to celebrate.

For the late Ezinne Regina Mgbo Ubachukwu (Nee Nnoruka) of the legendary Ubachukwu family, Oka village, Ichi in Ekwusigo local government area of Anambra state, a time to die coincided with a time to celebrate!

Indeed, leaving the stage at the age of 100 leaves the Ubachukwu’s with no other option than to celebrate the life and time of their matriarch-, a fulfilled life, a life well lived.

During her life time, Ezinne Ubachukwu who held the title of Omenwa Odu of Ichi (by the virtue of her late husband, Chief N.O Ubachukwu’s traditional title, Odu of Ichi) was a devout Christian. She played a prominent role in the propagation and spread of the Anglican faith in Ichi. She was also a community leader and woman advocate.

During her younger days, the late Ezinne Regina Ubachukwu was a shrewd and successful businesswoman, a trait she passed on to her children who are today highly successful businessmen and industrialists.

For example, one her sons, Pharm Sam Ubachukwu is the Chairman of Megachem Nig Ltd, a company that has many top notch pharmaceutical products in its kitty, including Nycil range of baby products.

It is also worth mentioning that Ezinne’s late husband, Chief N.O Ubachukwu ( Odu of Ichi) was one of the biggest philanthropist and pacesetter in Ichi.

He was a successful and resourceful businessman who brought and made the Bata brand of shoes popular in Nigeria.

According to a programme of events for the late Ezinne Ubachukwu’s rites of passage as released by the family, on Thursday, January 5th, 2023, there will be a wake keep for the deceased at her late husband’s country home, Old Onitsha- Nnewi Road, Ichi.

The next day, her remains will lay in state at the same venue while funeral service follows at the St. James Anglican Church, Ichi.

Internment takes place after the church service at her husband’s compound.

Sunday, January 8, 2023, there will be a Thanksgiving service for the late Ezinne Regina Ubachukwu at St. James Anglican Church, Ichi.
