NDOKWAFORWARD, a political pressure group in Ndokwa land, has commended the Delta State Government’s plan to empower thousands of economically disadvantaged residents with financial support, describing the initiative as a boost to small businesses and grassroots economic development.

The group, in a statement signed by Rt. Hon. Samuel Osasa, Esq., Omordi George Ugbomah, PhD, and Chief Isaac Onyesom, said the intervention would improve livelihoods and create opportunities for residents to become economically self-reliant if properly implemented.

It said the success of government policies should be measured not only by infrastructure development but also by their impact on the lives of ordinary citizens, particularly their ability to earn a living, support their families and build sustainable businesses.

According to NDOKWAFORWARD, small businesses remain critical to Delta State’s economy, providing employment and supporting thousands of households, while contributing to commerce and community development.

The group noted that many entrepreneurs were grappling with rising operating costs and declining purchasing power, adding that targeted financial assistance could help existing businesses expand and enable aspiring entrepreneurs to establish viable enterprises.

It, however, stressed the need for transparent implementation and effective monitoring to ensure that the funds reached the intended beneficiaries and were invested in productive ventures.

The group said the impact of the programme should be reflected in stronger businesses, improved household incomes and increased economic activities across communities in the state.

While commending Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for prioritising the welfare of Deltans, NDOKWAFORWARD called for a broader economic strategy to complement the empowerment initiative.

It urged the state government to strengthen agricultural investment, vocational training, access to affordable credit and infrastructure development, while creating an enabling environment for private businesses to thrive.

The group maintained that Delta State had the human and economic resources to achieve greater prosperity, but said sustained policies were needed to enable residents to contribute meaningfully to the economy rather than depend continually on government assistance.

It also urged beneficiaries to use the financial support judiciously, invest in productive ventures and grow their businesses to create employment opportunities for others.

NDOKWAFORWARD expressed the hope that the initiative would be sustained as part of a broader effort to promote economic inclusion and improve living standards across the state.

It reaffirmed its support for policies aimed at advancing the interests of Deltans and called on the state government to sustain its commitment to enterprise development, economic self-reliance and shared prosperity across the 25 local government areas.
