These, are certainly the best of times for Nigerian female music star, Temilade Openiyi, popularly known as Tems as she has been drawn to headline the first-ever FIFA Club World Cup final halftime show, taking place at MetLife Stadium in New York on July 13.
The producers of the show, Global Citizen, disclosed this in a statement, stating that the star-studded performance will be broadcast live and free on DAZN.com, allowing fans around the world to tune in.
Tems will be joined on stage by her Colombian colleague, J Balvin and American pop star, Doja Cat.
According to the organisers, the star-studded performance is part of a broader effort to raise awareness and support for the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund (FGCEF).
For those who don’t know, the FGCEF is a joint initiative led by the FIFA President, Gianni Infantino and Global Citizen co-founder, Hugh Evans.
Reports reveal that the aim is to raise $100 million fund to expand access to quality education and football for children across the globe.
