Nigerians Attack Bayo Onanuga Over Statement On Abducted Oyo Pupils

President Bola Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, has come under heavy criticism from many Nigerians on social media over his recent comments about the kidnapped schoolchildren in Oyo State.

Onanuga reportedly stated that some of the images being circulated online and linked to the abducted pupils were actually pictures of abused children from Mali. A statement he made via his X handle (formerly Twitter).

His remarks sparked outrage on social media, with many Nigerians expressing anger and strongly criticizing his position.

@thisisnd_ “Here they are in air-conditioned rooms and well taken care of. Clap for yourself.”

@sundaywenger; “The more u tweet the more Mr. President loose ground. To Nigerians his doing nothing bcus of you.  If the president have vision he should fire u… And get someone more diplomatic with tweets.”

@sundaywenger; “Omo na Mr. Bayo ooooo. Another pending disgrace. By God’s grace they see those children and teachers. If we get to know they did all this to them and u came out to deny it just resign. What will come after u by Nigerians won’t be funny. U just spoke like Minister Wike the clown.”

@NG_PHENY; “You are too busy proving what is fake and not instead of proferring solutions. Are our children supposed to be kidnapped in the first place? If they had not been kidnapped will people had had the chance to spread what you are killing yourself to dispell wether true or not?”

@IfeosemeJoel; “Oh, you know how to do your research… but when the fake video of VDM with a voice clone of Tinubu popped up you were on fire calling VDM all kind of names, You’re beyond being called Stupid. If shame was a person, you’re it’s father.”

@ZCHIDOSKI; “Does that prove that our children is currently not in the bush and being tortured.. the same way you can invest energy to bring out picture. That energy is needed to rescue our children. Don’t leave A to be doing Z. You don’t have reputation to protect again. Stop trying.”

@k_jideofor; “The capital question is, how are you sure the children are not in the worst situation than the pictures. It’s better to have a picture that shows proof of life than not evening knowing about the situation of the kids. Imagine your 2year old girl child in the hands of those beast.”

@Szim001; “Bayo Animalonuga… Whether or not the pictures are the kidnapped Nigerian children, it still reflects the situation of those innocent children in the bush for almost a month now.

If you have conscience ur main priority would be to find a way to get those children released.”
