‘Pakurumo’ Saga: Banky W Knocks Samklef

Nigerian music star cum politician, Bankole Wellington, popularly known as Banky W has asked music producer, Samklef to take up the case with Sony over royalties on Wizkid’s Pakurumo.

Banky W said; “Someone should please explain to Samklef that my name is not and was never on this royalty split sheet that he is posting.”

“I’ve never controlled it. He needs to take this up with Sony/ASCAP/BMI and his publisher not me. I’ve never taken a dime off those royalties and never will.”

For those who don’t know, Samklef over the weekend took to his Twitter page and wrote;

“Nigerians make una see o!! Dey took my name off and put Steve Micheal. As composer for pakurumo. @bankywellington how far now ? How did we get to this?”

Samklef also added; “Claiming all my 11 years royalties for Wizkid’s Superstar album in a bit. My lawyers will reach out. It’s 50/50.”

“Anybody wey don collect my money better reach out o! Samkef fine were o! Make dem tag Banky o! My money go don plenty o! Before him go use am campaign for election.”

It is interesting to know that Samklef, produced Wizkid’s hit song, Pakurumo and he is claiming that Banky W failed to properly compensate him for his contribution to the song, promising to get his royalties.

Before now Wizkid was signed to Banky W’s EME Record Label.
