Popular Lagos-based preacher and founder of Grace Nation a.k.a Liberation City, Pastor Dr. Chris Okafor, has threatened legal action against social media activist, Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, over alleged cyberbullying, defamation and false paternity claims.
Speaking through his legal counsel during a press briefing on Friday, Pastor Okafor accused VeryDarkMan and a woman identified as Miss Chi of orchestrating a campaign of cyber incitement, harassment and criminal defamation against him across social media platforms.
According to the statement, the woman has falsely presented herself online as the biological daughter of the cleric, alleging abandonment and neglect. The legal team described the claims as “entirely false, malicious and injurious,” insisting that DNA tests conducted years ago confirmed that the children involved are not Pastor Okafor’s biological offspring.
The lawyers further alleged that VeryDarkMan published and promoted the claims without verification or reaching out to Pastor Okafor for his side of the story, an action they said amounted to deliberate defamation under the guise of activism.
While denying allegations of abandonment, the cleric stated that he had nonetheless provided humanitarian support for the children’s education abroad, a gesture his lawyers stressed should not be misconstrued as an admission of paternity.
The legal team demanded an immediate retraction of all defamatory publications, a public apology in two national newspapers, removal of all related online content, and a fresh DNA test to be conducted at a mutually agreed medical facility.
They warned that failure to comply would leave Pastor Okafor with no option but to seek redress in court to protect his reputation and ministry.
