Popular Nollywood actress and mother of star actress Regina Daniels, Rita Daniels, has suffered a setback after losing the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) presidential election.
The veteran actress was defeated by her colleague and AGN National Secretary, Abubakar Yakubu.
The election, held on Saturday in Benin, Edo State, saw Yakubu secure 116 votes, narrowly defeating Rita, who garnered 113 votes.
Yakubu will now succeed Emeka Rollas as the Guild’s President.
Notably, prior to the election, Rollas had advised Rita to focus on her daughter’s well-being instead of contesting the AGN elections.
Weeks earlier, Rollas also suggested that Regina Daniels needs help amid her marital challenges with billionaire politician, Senator Ned Nwoko.
