Singer D’banj In Fraud Mess

Nigerian music star, Oladapo Oyebanjo, popularly known as D’banj has been arrested and detained by the Independent Corrupt Practices and other Related Offences Commission (ICPC).

Sources squealed to us that the singer was arrested and detained on Tuesday, December 6th, 2022 after ICPC operatives closed in on him, asking him to report himself at their headquarters in Abuja.

According to sources, D’banj is being accused of diverting millions of naira earmarked by the Nigerian government for N-Power project.

Recall that the empowerment programme was set up by the Nigerian government in 2016 to address youth unemployment and increase social development.

We gathered that the Koko Master as he is fondly called by his Nigerian fans has been avoiding invitations for weeks, claiming to be busy abroad for concerts each time he was summoned to come for interrogation over the fraud allegation.

We were told that the singer eventually showed up at the commission’s office on Tuesday after several threats by the agency to arrest him anywhere, whether in Nigeria or abroad.

Insiders said that the musician on arrival was subjected to a prolonged interrogation session after which he was detained.

Officials of the ICPC stated that the singer’s plea for administrative bail was rejected since he cannot be trusted to attend his trial if granted bail.
