With less than two months to the November 8, 2025 governorship election in Anambra State, the Soludo-Ibezim Campaign Organization (SICO) has reaffirmed its commitment to running an issue-based campaign focused on the future and progress of Anambra State. The group made this known in a press statement signed by its Director General, Professor Solo Osita Chukwulobelu.
Amid growing political rhetoric and personal attacks, SICO emphasized that it would not be distracted by what it described as “desperate tactics” from rival candidates, particularly the All Progressives Congress (APC) ticket of Nicholas Ukachukwu and Senator Uche Ekwunife.
“Frustrated by the general opinion polls that SOLUDO-IBEZIM ticket is the consensus of Ndi Anambra, some candidates are beginning to show desperation with intent to distract or destroy,” the statement read.
SICO insists that one of the core issues of the 2025 election is the educational and moral qualification of candidates, stressing that Anambra – renowned for its academic excellence and leadership pedigree – must not be led by individuals with questionable academic records.
Citing official forms submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the Soludo-Ibezim campaign alleged that the APC governorship candidate, Mr. Nicholas Ukachukwu, presented a General Certificate of Education (GCE) with multiple failing grades, including F9 in English and Mathematics.
“Anambra cannot have a governor whose ability to read and write or add and subtract numbers is in doubt,” the campaign organization stated.
The campaign also questioned the academic record of Senator Uche Ekwunife, APC’s deputy governorship candidate, alleging that she presented only four GCE subjects – below the minimum required for university admission and a questionable PhD from an unaccredited university in the United States.
“Once you discount the fake PhD, her only sworn academic qualification is a GCE with four subjects,” SICO said, describing the development as “the worst and most embarrassing credentials ever presented for the office of governor in the history of Anambra State.”
Beyond qualifications, SICO emphasized the importance of moral leadership and the need for public officials to serve as role models to Anambra’s youth.
“Part of the ethical and moral rebirth that the Soludo-Ibezim administration is executing is to rid Anambra of fake influences on our children and youths people who promote success by magical means rather than hard work and merit.”
The campaign likened fake academic credentials to the same societal menace posed by “fake native doctors,” warning that such influences undermine the values of diligence and excellence that Anambra is known for.
SICO highlighted the accomplishments of Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo and his deputy, Dr. Onyekachukwu Ibezim, listing over 120 achievements across sectors, all without borrowing. It pointed to multiple national and international awards received by the administration as evidence of its transformative impact on the state.
The campaign further cited the outcome of recent bye-elections, where the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) reportedly won 75% of the vote, as a sign of public confidence in the current leadership.
In its final note, the Soludo-Ibezim campaign assured Ndi Anambra that it remains committed to governance that is based on merit, transparency, and vision.
“We are focused on the future of Anambra. We do not take the support of Ndi Anambra for granted. We are working hard to earn every vote based on the value we have delivered and will continue to deliver.”
The statement concluded with a firm stance: “Anambra is far too sophisticated to be governed by semi-illiterates or people of easy virtues.”
