Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State cast his vote at his Ofu Iyi polling unit in Isuofia, Aguata Local Government Area, during the 2025 Anambra governorship election on Saturday.
Arriving at the polling station in the morning, Soludo, who is seeking re-election on the platform of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), was warmly received by supporters and residents of the area. After completing his accreditation and voting process, the governor commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for what he described as an orderly and transparent exercise.
Speaking with journalists shortly after voting, Governor Soludo expressed strong confidence that APGA would secure a “landslide victory” in the poll. He stated that his administration’s achievements in infrastructure, education, healthcare, and youth empowerment would speak for themselves at the ballot box.
“I am confident that the people of Anambra know where they stand. We have served with sincerity and delivered visible results across the state. APGA is deeply rooted in Anambra, and I believe the outcome will reflect the people’s trust in our vision,” Soludo said.
The governor also condemned reports of vote-buying by some candidates, describing the practice as a threat to democracy. He urged voters to remain vigilant and to cast their ballots according to their conscience.
“We have heard of incidents of vote-buying in some areas, but I believe the people of Anambra will not sell their future. Our democracy must be about ideas and service, not money,” he added.
Voting across several parts of the state reportedly commenced on time, with security operatives maintaining order at polling centers.
As counting continues, residents await the official results from INEC to determine whether Soludo’s confidence in a sweeping victory for APGA will be confirmed at the polls.
