Zamfara Politics: Yari, Marafa, Others Planning To Change Party – Sources

Report reaching us at the moment has it that the former governor of Zamfara State, Abdulaziz Yari along with Senator Kabiru Marafa, a former lawmaker are currently in a critical decision-making over changing political party.

Sources said that Yari has invited stakeholders from all the 14 local government areas of the state for a meeting scheduled to hold in his Talata Mafara residence on Saturday, July 17th, 2021.

According to sources, some of those planning to change party are Senator Kabiru Garba Marafa; a commissioner with the National Population Commission, Muttaka Rini, Ambassador Husaini Moriki, the chairman of the National Broadcasting Commission, Ikra Bilbis; a commissioner with the Federal Character Commission, Sani Garba Gusau; Senator Tijjani Yahaya Kaura; the EFCC embattled Dauda Lawal.

Others are the controversial Police Housing Contractor, Shehu Isa Gusau who has since been battling to account for the N4billion police contracts for the construction of police housing units in Zamfara and Sokoto, which he failed to execute and the money diverted. Others are also Alh. Ibrahim Shehu Bakauye, currently facing charges for diverting huge sums of money meant for sports, and Sagir Hamida.

Sources revealed that the meeting was summoned to inform the the stakeholders of the defection plan and invite those wishing to go along with them to the new political party.

Sources added that Marafa has advised Yari to remain in the APC due to the series of litigation cases he has with both EFCC and the ICPC over financial misappropriation, including a threat of possible audit of his tenure as Chairman of the Nigerian Governors’ Forum.

Meanwhile, a source alleged that Marafa said he, Yari’s boys and the other co-travellers will move to another political party or form a faction in the APC for ant-party activities.
