Nollywood star actress, Iyabo Ojo, has reacted to singer, Naira Marley’s letter demanding N500 million from her for defamation.
The screen star, on Monday, December 18th, 2023 responded to the letter by the singer through his lawyer, Olalekan Ojo (SAN) & Co.
Iyabo Ojo, in a letter by her counsel, The Marverick Forte Legal, dated December 18th, 2023, titled; “RE: DEMAND FOR THE SUM OF N500,000,000.00 (FIVE HUNDRED MILLION NAIRA) AS DAMAGES FOR THE LIBEL, FALSE AND MALICIOUS PUBLISHED OF AZEEZ FASHOLA (AKA NAIRA MARLEY ON YOUR OFFICIAL INSTAGRAM HANDLE – FAILURE TO TRANSMIT/SERVE ANY CORRESPONDENCE EITHER BY HAND OR THROUGH POST AND REGRETTABLE RESORT TO SOCIAL MEDIA BLACKMAIL,” reads in part;
“Our client would’ve ordinarily dismissed your letter dated December 12, 2023, for being outrightly inconsequential and of no relevance, premised on your failure to transmit the correspondence till this very day.”
“Our client finds your client’s demands spurious, frivolous and clout-chasing but shall initiate an action in case your client fails to do so. Our client shall be claiming the sum of N1bn.”
For those who don’t know, Naira Marley had earlier, demanded a public apology and N500 million in damages from Iyabo Ojo.
The actress was said to have allegedly accused Naira Marley of engaging in “spiritual and physical dealings” with famous musician, late Ilerioluwa Aloba a.k.a Mohbad which allegedly affected his mental organ.

According to the letter by Naira Marley’s lawyer, it says; “It is our instruction that sometime in September 2023, you maliciously and falsely published of and concerning our client on your official Instagram handle ‘iyaboojofespris.”
“Your publication of the above words on the Internet which is readily accessible to users of the system constituted a serious libel and has caused our client colossal damage to his reputation.”
“Our client requires you within seven days after the receipt or delivery of this letter an unequivocal retraction.”
“The public apology is to be published on your official Instagram handle, @iyaboojofespris, and also on one national daily.”
