The breakup between former Big Brother Naija (BBNaija) housemates, Bella Okagbue and Segun Olusemo, popularly known as Sheggz, has taken a dramatic turn.
Bella’s lawyers have rejected the defamation allegations made against her by Sheggz.
In a letter dated August 24, 2026, Bella’s lawyers described the allegations in the cease-and-desist letter sent on Sheggz’s behalf as “spurious and baseless.”
The lawyers explained that Bella’s comments on social media were simply her honest feelings and personal experiences. They argued that her posts were not false statements meant to damage Sheggz’s reputation.
They also alleged that Sheggz promised to marry Bella but later failed to keep his promise. According to them, he also gave Bella a false impression about his intentions during their relationship.
Bella’s lawyers further claimed that Sheggz collected several loans from her under false pretences. They said they have evidence to support the claim and are prepared to take the matter to court.
The lawyers also rejected Sheggz’s demands for Bella to apologise, withdraw her statements and stop making further comments about him, insisting that she had not defamed him.
In addition, Bella’s legal team accused one of Sheggz’s lawyers of repeatedly contacting her through unwanted messages, phone calls and video calls, including at odd hours. They warned the lawyer to stop contacting Bella in that manner.
