September 28, 2026, was an unusual birthday celebration for the Lead Consultant of Adejoke Heritage Media, Adejoke Ajoke, who chose to mark her natal day in a manner centred on compassion, encouragement and service to humanity.

Rather than spending the special occasion solely with family and friends, the quintessential radio and television presenter decided to share quality time with teenagers undergoing rehabilitation at the Lagos State Rehabilitation and Correctional Centre, Isheri-Olowoora, Berger.

Adejoke, accompanied by her team member, Mr. Jacob, was received at the centre by the Principal, Mr. Ajeniya Ayodele Kabir
Deputy Director in charge of correctional center for senior boys , Isheri before being ushered into the facility and later taken to meet the young residents.

Speaking about the experience, Adejoke described the visit as both touching and enlightening, saying meeting the teenagers had given her a deeper understanding of the realities surrounding rehabilitation.
“Meeting these promising teenagers is a wonderful experience to me. It’s an eye-opener to most of the things that you hear outside the walls.”
She also commended the management of the facility, noting that the centre was well managed and situated in a serene environment that, according to her, differed from some perceptions held by members of the public.
The majority of the residents are teenagers, and Adejoke used the biblical stories of Joseph and David to encourage them, reminding them of their worth and importance before God.
She urged the young people not to lose hope because of their present circumstances, stressing that their current experiences should not determine the entirety of their future.
The interaction also provided an opportunity for the celebrant to hear directly from the teenagers about lessons they had learnt during their rehabilitation. Their responses, she said, were encouraging and demonstrated that the rehabilitation process was already making an impact on their lives.
The atmosphere later became celebratory as birthday songs and trending music filled the air, with the teenagers expressing their appreciation to Adejoke through singing and dancing.
The celebration ended on an emotional note when one of the boys led the others in prayers for the celebrant, wishing her many more fruitful years, good health and soundness of mind.
For Adejoke Ajoke, the birthday was therefore more than a personal celebration. It became an opportunity to remind young people facing difficult circumstances that they remain valuable, hopeful and capable of turning their lives around.
The birthday celebration also received notable media attention, with Radio Lagos 107.5 FM and WASH 94.9 FM playing significant roles in making the occasion memorable.
Indeed, it was a birthday celebration with a difference, one built around humanity, hope and the belief that every young person deserves a second chance.
