President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has said Nigeria has passed through a difficult period and is now entering an era of prosperity.

Tinubu stated this in his Independence Day address to Nigerians, marking the country’s 66th Independence anniversary.
The President said his administration had taken difficult economic decisions to correct what he described as deep problems in the Nigerian economy.
According to him, the reforms introduced by his administration were necessary to put the country on a stronger economic path.
Tinubu said Nigeria’s economy has grown by more than four per cent this year, while inflation has fallen from its peak. He also said foreign reserves have improved and the foreign exchange market has stabilised.
He said the country recorded more than $6 billion in non-oil export revenue in 2025, describing it as the highest in Nigeria’s history.
The President said the focus of his administration has now shifted from economic reforms to creating shared prosperity for Nigerians.
He listed reducing the cost of living, creating jobs, supporting businesses, improving agriculture and strengthening infrastructure among the priorities of his government.
Tinubu also promised to expand mechanised farming, improve transportation and storage, support industries and provide young Nigerians with skills and opportunities.
He said his administration would continue to support poor and vulnerable Nigerians through social programmes, education loans, healthcare and other interventions.
“We have passed through our own Red Sea. This is not the time to look back,” Tinubu said.
He urged Nigerians to remain hopeful and work together towards building a prosperous nation.
“The age of reform has done its work. Now begins the age of prosperity,” the President said.
