The Aliko Dangote Foundation (ADF) has launched a groundbreaking Student Share Grant Initiative, designed to help young Nigerians begin their investment journey early while deepening financial literacy and encouraging a culture of long-term wealth creation.

The initiative, which is open to students aged 18 years and above in public and private tertiary institutions across Nigeria, aims to introduce thousands of young people to the principles of saving, responsible investing and ownership through direct participation in the ongoing Initial Public Offering (IPO) of Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals FZE (DPRP).

Under the programme, an eligible student who successfully completes the required verification process and subscribes for a minimum of 10 DPRP shares through the designated platform, ipo.alikodangotefoundation.org, will qualify for the Foundation to fund an application for an additional 10 DPRP shares in the student’s name at no additional cost.

The initiative forms part of ADF’s broader commitment to empowering young Nigerians through education, economic inclusion and practical financial knowledge. By combining investor education with real-life participation in the capital market, the Foundation hopes to cultivate a generation of informed investors and responsible wealth creators.

Speaking on the initiative, Chairman of the Aliko Dangote Foundation, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, said the programme is designed to give young Nigerians a meaningful introduction to investment and ownership.

“Supporting young people goes beyond providing access to education. It must also involve equipping them with the knowledge and opportunities to participate in economic growth and wealth creation. Through this initiative, we want students to understand the value of saving, responsible investing and long-term ownership. Our goal is to help them develop an investment mindset early in life.”

According to him, exposing young people to investment opportunities at an early stage can significantly influence their future financial decisions and encourage greater participation in the formal economy.

“When young people understand ownership and investment early, they are better positioned to make informed financial choices, build wealth responsibly and contribute more actively to economic development.”

Chief Executive Officer of the Aliko Dangote Foundation, Mrs. Zouera Youssoufou, said the initiative bridges the gap between financial education and practical experience.

“Financial literacy becomes more impactful when people can apply what they learn. This programme allows eligible students to experience first-hand how the investment process works, from verification and subscription to allotment and ownership, while reinforcing the importance of responsible participation in the capital market.”

She added that the Foundation’s objective extends beyond a single IPO transaction.

“We are seeking to inspire a lifelong interest in financial literacy, investing and asset ownership among young Nigerians. The knowledge and experience gained through this initiative can serve as a foundation for sound financial decision-making throughout their lives.”

Eligible students aged 18 years and above enrolled in recognised public or private tertiary institutions across Nigeria can visit ipo.alikodangotefoundation.org to complete the student verification process.

Upon successful verification, participants will be directed to the designated subscription channel where they may apply for a minimum of 10 DPRP shares in their own name and for their own benefit. Students who complete the process will qualify for the Foundation to fund an additional application for 10 DPRP shares.

The initiative applies solely to eligible students participating through the designated platform and cannot be used to purchase shares for another person, another Dangote company or any other company.

ADF clarified that the Student Share Grant Initiative is a standalone Foundation programme aimed at promoting financial literacy and investment participation. Participation remains voluntary and should not be interpreted as investment advice or a recommendation to acquire DPRP shares. Prospective participants are encouraged to carefully review all IPO documentation and make their own investment decisions.
