Famous Nigerian music executive and Mavin Records boss, Michael Collins Ajereh, popularly known as Don Jazzy, has refuted a statement made by his former associate, Bankulli (Abisagboola Oluseun John), at a recent event.
Bankulli had claimed that Don Jazzy once evaded the law in the UK.
He said; “I refused to include a particular story about Don Jazzy in the Afrobeats documentary. Back then, he was trying to survive in London. He had an accident, the car was destroyed, and he abandoned it.”
“He was returning from a show, fell asleep while driving, and crashed the car. He removed the plate number and ran away because the cost of towing the car was higher than repairing it. But look at Jazzy now he has a fleet of cars.”
Reacting to the claim, Don Jazzy, in a post shared on X (formerly Twitter), clarified the incident.
He wrote; “Lol, no panic. It’s been so long, so he doesn’t remember the story exactly. I actually waited for the police. They came and gave me a breathalyser to check if I was drunk. I wasn’t, but the car was impounded. The fine to retrieve it was more than the value of the cheap car, so I left it with them lol.”
