Popular Nigerian pastor and founder of Grace Nation International, Dr Chris Okafor, has made fresh revelations amid the ongoing controversy involving his ex-wife and allegations of sexual misconduct.
Speaking publicly, Okafor disclosed that a DNA test he conducted years ago revealed that two of the four children he raised were not biologically his, a discovery he said he kept private to protect the children.
Addressing the molestation allegations against him, the cleric questioned their timing, noting that no such accusations were made for 14 years following his divorce, until he decided to remarry.
“How is it that I was never accused of molestation for 14 years, and suddenly these allegations surfaced when I chose to remarry?” he asked.
Okafor claimed his ex-wife recently contacted him, questioning his decision to remarry, despite having had no communication for over a decade following what he described as a bitter divorce. He further alleged that she obtained his new wife’s phone number and issued threats against her.
The pastor argued that the allegations lack credibility, insisting that no court would have granted him full custody of four minor children if he were a molester. According to him, during the divorce proceedings, custody was awarded to him while his ex-wife was granted supervised access.
He also recalled past incidents in which his ex-wife allegedly threatened to “destroy his ministry” and accused her of orchestrating a campaign to damage his reputation, including involving social media activist VeryDarkMan (VDM) to spread what he described as “scripted and fabricated claims.”
Okafor further alleged that he recorded WhatsApp conversations with his daughters, during which they reportedly denied that any abuse occurred. He claimed one daughter admitted she acted based on what she was told by another sibling.
The cleric also accused those behind the allegations of attempting to extort money, alleging that VDM later sent him a message demanding payment of about ₦80 million for school fees and allowances.
“How can people accuse a man of molestation and still demand he pays school fees?” he queried.
Okafor concluded by saying the emotional trauma of the DNA results led him to withdraw financial support, adding that he possesses documentary and audio evidence to support his claims.
