EFCC Breaks Silence On VeryDarkMan’s Arrest, Cites Multiple Petitions

The internet has remained abuzz since the arrest of popular social media critic, Vincent Otse a.k.a VeryDarkMan, by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Friday.

Amid growing public outrage and calls for his release, the EFCC has now addressed the situation.

In a statement released on Monday, May 5, 2025, EFCC spokesperson, Dele Oyewale confirmed that VeryDarkMan was arrested following multiple petitions filed against him.

Responding to the massive online campaign demanding his immediate release, the anti-graft agency assured the public that VeryDarkMan would be released as soon as he meets the conditions for bail.

Oyewale said; “We arrested VeryDarkMan to respond to a series of allegations raised against him by some petitioners.”

“We will release him when he meets the bail conditions and we will take the case to court as soon as possible; we are law-abiding.”
