Former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai faced a difficult day as operatives of the Department of State Services took him into custody after he arrived at the state high court for his trial on March 31, 2026.
The Federal High Court has fixed April 14 for a ruling on his bail application. Lead counsel, Oluwole Iyamu (SAN) confirmed that arguments have been presented and the court’s decision is awaited.
El-Rufai was also scheduled for another hearing on April 10 at the Federal High Court in Abuja, for which his legal team is fully prepared.
Earlier, he was briefly taken away by Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) for separate charges of abuse of office, fraud, and conferring undue advantage, alongside co-defendant Amadu Sule. These charges are distinct from those before the Federal High Court.
