The highly anticipated Green & White Nigeria Achievers Award 2020 is now set to hold but in grand style. The award which was earlier scheduled to hold in April, 2020 was postponed indefinitely due to the novel Covid-19 pandemic.

However, the award dubbed; “Green & White Nigeria Achievers Award Lockdown Edition” will now hold immediately with the organisers set to present the award to the nominees in the comfort of their offices and homes.

According to the organisers, the event which is usually held at an event centre will this time around be done differently as the nominees will be receiving their awards in their offices and homes respectively.

Speaking on the development, the Award Director, Amb. Juliet Geoffrey Porbeni expressed regret over the inconveniences the sudden change in plans might cause, adding that the decision was for the benefit of every participants.

She said; “The Coronavirus pandemic has led to a host ceremonies being postponed or cancelled, with the government rules and guidelines on social distancing, making it impossible to gather several hundred nominees and guests in a hall.”

“The award which is held every April was shifted several times due to Covid-19 pandemic. The stakeholders have met and agreed to present the awards to the nominees in their offices/homes instead.”

“This is because we do not want to risk the health of our guests, bearing in mind that the dreaded Coronavirus is still out there.”

“We will have all the awards pre-record presentation which will obviously work out well. It is very important that we celebrate and acknowledge the success and achievement of our nominees whose work have touch lives in many ways even in this period.”

“It would be impossible for us to cancel this year’s edition, instead, we moved it online just like few others have done.”
