Former Abia State Governor, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, has stunned many Nigerians with a recent revelation about his time in office.
Kalu, in an interview recently claimed he did not personally benefit from his tenure as governor. On the contrary, he stated that serving the state came at a significant personal cost.
According to the lawmaker, rather than gaining financially, he actually spent a substantial amount of his own money to support the state government during his administration.
Hear him; “I spend my own money being governor, like I’m spending my money today being senator. I used to finance the state. That is, I never benefited anything from being governor.”
“Rather, I lost a lot of money. The federal government took a lot of my businesses. So for me, politics had been more dangerous under the Obasanjo federal government at the time.”
