These are not the best of times for a popular Lagos music group, Veentage Band as seven of its key members have left the band to form another group called Elixir Band.

According to one of the exited members; “Karma is real. The same way our leader led a rebel to leave his former band, Sharp Band, that is exactly what is happening to him now.”

However, Veentage Band‘s leader, Desmond Emokiniovo, who lost his wife after an unsuccessful surgery in Dubai on March 5th, 2020, is now said to be in a confused state.

Our source said; “The mass exodus from his band is orchestrated by former band leader Moses, amongst them are 3 major lead singers and 4 instrumentalists.”

This can be no doubt a challenging moment for Desmond who lost his wife, Ejiro a year ago in Dubai after performing at Speaker, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila’s mother’s birthday.

Since the death of his wife who is regarded as the face of Veentage Band, the band has been struggling to be on the mainstream and this latest exodus of the band members may signal the end of the band.

According to information, the seven-member team that left Veentage Band were some of those who left Sharp Band with him few years ago.

According to our source, the agreement the band members had with Desmond before they left Sharp Band was that they will have equal share at Veentage Band;

The source said; “When we left Sharp Band we had an agreement that we are going to have equal share of whatever we make at Veentage Band but, as time goes on and Veentage Band was getting mentions in the media space that Desmond came back to tell us that the band is no longer Veentage Band as it used to be before. Meanwhile, Desmond and the Veentage Band are having a larger share of the Enterprise.”

“Although, he told us that there will be a leader of the band but that everyone will be on a level playing ground with equal share to all the resources that will be accrued on Veentage Bank when we started. But, as the band was making waves he came back to tell us that it is now Desmond and the Veentage Band, thereby changing everything including how much share each team member or band member get. This was actually what led to our exodus.”

Before the mass exodus of Veentage band members, a year after the death of his wife who was the face of the band, Veentage band have been struggling to get shows, coupled with the Covid-19 pandemic which has limited the number of events across the world.
