Do not mistake the title of this piece for a scintillating story about Bush Mango, popular in Nigeria, especially among the Igbo folks of South eastern Nigeria, as Ogbono and from which the flagship Igbo delicacy, “Ogbono Soup” is made. No! This is not about delicious Ogbono Soup but about the gripping but abridged love story of the proverbial two love birds of the love song-Chisom Scholastica and Chukwu Anthony.
The abridged love story is simple and told in a few paragraphs: On Saturday, 10th October, 2026, Anthony took his heartthrob, the Queen of his heart, Chisom to the altar of God- precisely The Catholic Church of Vistation, Festac Town, Lagos-where, in the presence of their families, friends, guests and well wishers, they were joined in a Holy matrimony as man and wife by a priest.
Christened Ogbono 2026 (Ogbono is the groom’s moniker), Anthony and Chisom’s epoch wedding signalled the dawn of a union, and inlawship between two Anambra communities and families- the Obidiegwu family of Ifitte village, Nanka, Orumba North LGA and Ezekwe, Odidama village, Agulu, Anocha LGA respectively.
Immediately after the soleminazation of Holy matrimony, the wedding train moved to Lake View Estate, phase1, Omuwo Odofin for reception with Chief and Mrs Ikechukwu Chukwuechebe(Igiligi na Alor) directing affairs as Chairman of the day.
While Chief and Mrs Kerian Ezisi (Agubanze 1 of Agulu) are Anthony and Chisom’s sponsors (in the tradition of Catholic wedding), Mr and Mrs Amechi Anyanwor (CEO, Amanco Res Ltd) was the Father of the day. Ironically, Anyanwor is brother inlaw to the groom.
Among the galaxy of guests that graced the colourful wedding were the elder brother of the groom & Chief Executive Officer, His Grace Serene Unique Services Nig Ltd, Chief Uchenna Ezekwem and Wife, Mrs Chidinma Ezekwem, Mr Onyebuchi Ezekwem; Chairman Ekulo Group of companies and Ikenga Ichi, Chief Sir Emma Bishop Okonkwo, Sir Orji Okoye, Chairman of Jonex Nig Ltd, Chief Jonathan Uzor Okafor, President of Balogun Business Association, Chief Oscar Paul Ikechukwu Odogwu, CEO, Chigotex Nig Ltd, Chief Chigozie Aniagwu (Osuofia), Chairman, EmmyFrank Bonded Terminal Ltd, Chief Emeka Okonkwo, CEO Agarry Pharmaceuticals Ltd, Pharm Calistus Ubajiaka and wife Mrs Uzo Ubajiaka, CEO, Stephenson standard, Chief Stevenson Mbajiekwe and Chief Anakey Anibuogu( Ichie Ezeugwu).
