Popular Nigerian singer, Tiwa Savage, has shared the unusual lengths she went to for her latest tattoo session, revealing that she flew her personal tattoo artist all the way from Los Angeles, USA, to her home in Lagos, Nigeria for a private, in-room appointment.
Opening up about the decision, Tiwa explained that it was driven by emotional pain.
According to her, the tattoo session was not just about body art, it was a form of healing. The inspiration, she revealed, came from a heartbreak she was going through at the time.
She made the shocking revelation in an interview recently.
She said: “I flew in my tattoo artist from LA to Nigeria. And I did the tattoo in my room. So I was in an environment where I was comfortable. When you are in a tattoo parlour sometimes, a lot of people are working and then you are going through that pain. I wanted to make sure that I was in a comfortable place.”
“My tattoo artist walked in and was like, ‘What are you doing?… Is that going to come off?’ He started tattoo my body, there was blood everywhere. So he was more concerned for me like, ‘What are you trying to do?’”
“I did the tattoo from the pain I felt from a heartbreak. I just wanted to do something to scream.”
“Last two years was a very hard time. The relationship I experienced was crazy. I’m so happy I’m out of that relationship.”
