Media mogul and Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of E.O.M. Communications Limited, High Chief Elkanah O. Mowarin has lambasted Nollywood actor, Uche Maduagwu over his statement that 99 percent of the Nigerian female actors are prostitutes.
Olorogun Elkanah who expressed displeasure over the unwarranted remark by the controversial actor, said; “It’s despicable… disrespectful… condescending… nonsensical…condemnable and unacceptable to say Nollywood actresses are prostitutes”
“Not only is such statement a hate speech,it is an offensive generalisation. It also exposes the parochialism of Uche Maduagu.”
“Nollywood actresses are just like their counterparts in Europe and America. Celebrity social birds… they are educated, intelligent, very beautiful, smart, enlightened, fashionistas, etc. everyone wants to associate with them.”
For those who are not acquainted with the story, this is what the Nollywood actor, Uche Maduagwu said about his female colleagues….
“99% of actresses in Nollywood bought their houses with money gotten from Ashawo jobs… I dont want to mention names, I am not giving anyone free advertisement, just over heard someone narrating how some popular actress in Naija have turned Dubai into the new Allen Avenue in Ikeja as they now travel there for runs jobs with wealthy Arab men.”
“Whenever I hear a Nigerian actress showing off her newly acquired mansion on Instagram or Twitter, I Laugh uncontrollably especially when they put ‘hard work’ pays, seriously, is it the one on the bed with a Senator, Governor, wealthy traditional ruler, billionaire married man or rich politician in Abuja, Lagos or some where else in Nigeria?”
For those who don’t know, High Chief Elkanah Mowarin is the National President of Independent Television And Radio Programme Producers Association of Nigeria (INTARPPAN).
He is also the Executive Producer/E.O.M Business Network on Silverbird Television (STV), Television Continental (TVC) and Nigerian Television Authority (NTA).
Mowarin is a traditional title holder – Ame 1 of Agbarho Kingdom.
