The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun seemed to have yielded to the peoples’ demand in Rivers State to remove the Commissioner of Police in the State, Nwonyi Emeka following the attack on the governor, Mr. Siminalayi Fubara by some police officers.

Recall that Fubara accused some police officers of attempting to kill him some days ago when he went to access the level of damage done to the State House of Assembly over an explosion that shatter the place.

Be that as it may, IGP Egbetokun has appointed, Olatunji Disu as the new Commissioner of Police in Rivers State. Disu’s appointment was contained in a signal already dispatched.

The new Police Commissioner will replace, CP Nwonyi Emeka.

However, Disu’s new appointment comes barely seven months after he was promoted alongside thirty-two others from the rank of Deputy Commissioner of Police to Commissioner of Police.

Disu was subsequently appointed by the IGP as his principal staff, leading and coordinating the security team attached to the IGP’s office and others.
